Of course it's not really unsellable. It's just unsellable at market value. If they were willing to lower the price enough to make it worth the trouble of repainting and remodelling, or if she could bring herself to paint over her own work, then it would sell. And then we could look forward to seeing their very... unique... boutique hotel.

most of the floors would have to be redone and that costs $$$. there's the circus/clown tile in the big room and what looks like hardwood painted bright red. depending on where they are, if the location isn't desirable enough, it might not be worth the effort to put money into the house unless they seriously dropped the price. i also don't understand why, if they really want to sell the house, they don't do some of the work themselves to tone it down. kind of makes them sound like nightmare sellers.

At least you can paint over most of this, there was a house in our neighboring town that was up for sale last year I think and it's dubbed "The Tile House" and it has all this crazy tile work everywhere. I believe the owner was some kind of Italian tile worker. If I can find pictures I'll link them, but it was really obnoxious looking.

In the UK we tend to favour carpet and faux-wood laminate flooring for insulation against the cold, so the clown floors are an easy fix. The rest? Have a series of pizza and paint parties with friends. Honestly though, I think this is just a very clever marketing ploy and the house will likely sell for more than the list price pretty soon. Gloucestershire is a very picturesque part of the country with aerospace connections and a lot of tourism in the surrounding areas, as well as a slew of very old and established grammar schools that would be perfect for little Cosmo and Araminta to attend while daddy works away in London during the week and mummy blogs about making artisan sheep cheese while wearing £600 peasant dresses.

It would cost a fucking fortune to cover all of that up and replace the flooring. Not to mention having to replace the cabinets she ruined by painting them clown colors. I would have to pay someone to paint it because there is no way I could ever paint all that myself. She even painted the ceilings and wood beams clown colors, and anyone who has ever painted ceilings knows how badly it hurts your back, neck, and shoulders. What a disaster. You'd also have to replace all the light fixtures because she destroyed them with clown paint, doodads, and fabric. Just tear it down and start over because it would probably cost you just as much.
ETA that I just noticed she also painted all of the trim, woodwork and even the damn fireplace. Unbelievable.

Because most people can't be arsed with any renovation whatsoever, so unless you embrace the sad beige mum aesthetics when you want to sell, your property is going to be less attractive. I bought my first apartment like that, there was so much that needed to be done in it that it was quite below market price (It was a lot more than just paint that was needed though XD)

ok. i think it depends on the location. here, a lot of homes i consider turnkey get totally remodeled. kind of the way it is in a hot market. i don't know enough about the location of this IK house to comment on that. but it looks like this house would require more than a bit of paint. the only house i know of on the top of my head that doesn't sell easily and would require a LOT of remodel is the fred flintstone house. www.metv.com/stories/a-house-in-california-is-known-as-the-flintstone-house-because-well-it-ishillsborough is a pretty tony place. 49ers live there and lots of silicon valley $$$. but there are times that this house sat on the market. but obviously there is a butt for every toilet seat.

Dailyfail are forever pushing the "I transformed my kitchen for £2.50 into a grey hellhole"-schtik. They've forgotten to mention the £500k valuation was in 2014 before the property crash. It's in the forest of dean which is commutable to Cheltenham (London prices but prettier & Zara lived there for a while) if you don't mind the one-road-in-one-road-out mentality. It's nice to see something different from the IG clones & not that difficult or expensive to put right. Given it's in the wettest, dampest place in the country the floors are going to have carpet anyway. If you look past the colours it's a great place this is the outside. I'd snap it up in a shot and just make it my own. Just had a quick look & there is a barn with planning (for converting IE still a barn) for £380k so maybe not £500k but they'll get a good whack for it *if it was still on the market* which it doesn't appear to be. Also the area (well Gloucestershire as a whole) is (or was) a haven for artists, I remember being told that the crescent was all one in the 60s & you could walk from one end to the other inside as it was full of hippies. Then London discovered Cheltenham in the 80s & it went downhill from there. The area is full of "yummy mummies" with Jocasta and Tarquin while Daddy works in London all week. She's in the Sun too - must be a slow news week. https://www-thesun-co-uk.https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11836404/unsellable-home-years-decorating-doll-house-lydney-gloucestershire/

I can't believe no one has commented on that abomination of a staircase thing in the room with the rose painted flooring.

I can't believe no one has commented on that abomination of a staircase thing in the room with the rose painted flooring. The entire house is filled with abominations. How can we be expected to choose just one to comment on? I'm not sure I even recognized it as a staircase, lol.
