FDA finds over 1,000 dead rodents at Arkansas Family Dollar center
Rats!!
More than 1,100 dead rodents were discovered at a Family Dollar distribution center in Arkansas, prompting product recalls at hundreds of stores across the South.
The gross scene was discovered by the US Food and Drug Administration after it got a consumer complaint in January.
Inspectors swooped in on the West Memphis, Arkansas facility and found both live and dead rodents, along with “rodent feces and urine, evidence of gnawing, nesting and rodent odors throughout the facility, dead birds and bird droppings, and products stored in conditions that did not protect against contamination,” the FDA said, according to a report.
“Products covered by this retail level recall include all: (i) drugs; (ii) medical devices; (iii) cosmetics; (iv) dietary supplements; and (v) human and animal (pet) food products,” the FDA said.

Is Family Dollar different than just the Dollar Store? I'm in the PNW and we've had the plain Dollar Store forever but recently Dollar General has started popping up in small towns.
Either way, this is disgusting!

Family Dollar and Dollar General are two separate entities. Luckily I haven't shopped at either in years.

Then there's Dollar Tree, which I think is nicer and cleaner!

Louis, you're right, we have Dollar Tree here. Our local store closed recently due to hazards, ie there were boxes everywhere and they were forced to close and clean the place up. I haven't been in Dollar General or Family Dollar but I'm kind of shocked they could be worse than Dollar Tree which is never that great.

I'm a Dollar General junkie (if you've never shopped their clearance events, you MUST) but our local stores have a really hard time stocking shelves and were shut down recently for there being so many boxes and carts in the aisles it was a hazard.
We used to have a lot of Family Dollar stores around here but they've all closed over the past decade.

given the state of the family dollar store near me, this doesn't surprise me.
it's handy when i just need like one can of corn or toilet paper or something and i don't want to walk 5 more blocks to whole foods but it's definitely not nice. otoh, it's also the only affordable place left to buy food in my rapidly gentrifying neighbourhood so i hope it doesn't close or a lot of people are going to get screwed.

OMG this is so disgusting! Last time I shopped at a Family Dollar was about 2 years ago because I needed an ironing board (extremely random, I know). Before that, it's probably been decades. I shop Dollar Tree a lot, but not as much as I used to, because after we moved to FL, it's not as close as the one I'd go to back in TX. Dollar General - I've picked up things like notebooks & pens, & Mr. Holly will run in there sometimes to grab some Gatorade.
