charmedhour that is awful! In the meantime, the LL is still responsible for property taxes & insurance. That's just wrong. The city should put a moratorium on the property taxes by that standard, but that would never happen in a million years. They get their money, but everyone else can go get f*cked. Regarding childhood, almost nothing from my childhood is around. The 3 schools I went to are still there, but the elementary school & the high school have been added on to. The junior high is still the same size. Two of the 3 malls that were popular in my youth have been demolished & the other is a ghost town, except for the riff-raff that loiter there (which is partly what drove people away). I truly cannot think of a single place that we used to go that still exists other than Six Flags (amusement park), & Wet 'n Wild water park. The whole city is unrecognizable because of all the new roads & apartments & housing developments that are popping up like weeds. Places that were out in podunk are now sprawling with housing developments, restaurants, shopping centers & schools. Even the places my husband & I used to go when we were dating are gone. Every.single.one. I drove by the house I grew up in & the neighborhood isn't bad, but it's definitely not what it once was. Our old house still has the same paint job on it from 1980 lol. But they changed out the front doors to something more up to date, & they ripped out a lot of the shrubs, but the lawn looks perfect, just like my dad kept it. I keep in touch with a lot of my friends from that neighborhood & we talk about all the good times (& some bad) from that time.
