BUT Germans are, depending on the region, very big with Fasching (carnival). Dressing up is very much in our genes. Depending on the country and region there are traditional costumes, but especially as a child you are allowed to dress up as whatever you want to be. You'll see princesses, robots, crocodiles, you name it.

A couple of years ago, the city I live in had a Halloween themed Karneval. It was kind of weird having spooky costumes and decorations in February.
