^ No, as Roy didn't name any other band members. I haven't seen the documentation but the bits and peaces I read about it makes it clear why many former abuse victims don't come forward. It has so much to do with shame, trauma and guilt. There is no doubt in my mind that Roy was the only victim in the band. No band member was older den 16. As soon as they hit that age, they would have been replaced by a younger teen. It makes me so sick just thinking about it.

Menudo were signed to RCA International. Menudo's creator, Edgardo Diaz, has had multiple accusations of sexual assault made against him by different former Menudo members and a member of the Venezuelan band Los Chamos has also made similar allegations against Diaz. |

Yeah, I was reading up on this today and Menudo was signed by, and then later dropped by, RCA. Around 1987. So, probably a 5 year overlap where Menudo would have been in the RCA (Mendendez) orbit. But it would not have been early the proximity and day-to-day access the Menudo's founder/manager had. Reading about Menudo - of all groups - is like a super-hot mess. They aged out of the group just like "Logan's Run" or something. But some dropped out because of voice changes, or the group would not accept artistic input from them, got caught with marijuana, or them just wanted to go off on their own. Remember that guy who created a bunch of US boy bands and was some kind of predator? Disturbingly common phenomenon. |
