I have a carefully used/pre-loved (champagne taste & beer money!) furla that I use for work & it is just beautiful. I think that Chalet has one too. The quality of the leather is just beautiful and I worked some leather cream into it when I got it & it's just fine. I see a lot of MK in TK Maxx(TJ Maxx to you); personally I wouldn't go there. I've had Osprey brand bags & wallets too and they have held up well. www.ospreylondon.com/

I have old Coach totes that are almost 40 years old and look great. They're from back in the day when they were hand made, one at a time, in NYC. I still have a Coach bucket that was a HS graduation gift. It got a lot of use through my 20s and is still in great shape but the bucket style doesn’t suit me anymore. Actually I have 3 old Coach bags that still look fantastic but don’t get much use. That’s why I was so mad when coach’s quality went downhill. I was very brand loyal because of their longevity. I still carry totes because they fit my laptop. I don’t want to carry a laptop bag too while I commute.

Our daughter bought me a bright pink patent leather Coach zip top bag for my 60th birthday in 2011. It's looking ratty, I keep teasing her that I'll put a pink marker to the areas where the pink color has worn away. But I still get compliments on it!

I have a Dior brown patent (vegan leather) bag that was looking ok last time I saw it (haven had it out in a while .... I'll give you a progress report )

I'll have to take a pic of it later but I found a small crossbody to take on my upcoming NY/Boston trip.
Only thing is, on some days out I might need to carry more things than this will hold. But I definitely don't want to carry an actual purse. I'm wondering now if I'll need a backpack?

Something in a natural or aged tan that will work for any outfit or season?

just note that if you're going to museums, some of them make you check backpacks or they make you wear them in the front so you don't accidentally knock into displays or something. you can also do a larger crossbody, something in nylon so it's lightweight.

i'm a big fan of furla. mr czb gets them for me each time he goes to italy for a work trip. i think i mentioned furla in the original purse thread on the old board. they are pretty stylish and durable, especially for the price point.

You guys made me buy a new handbag. It was time; my old laptop / handbag doesn't look nice anymore, as the fake leather is slowly disappearing on the edges. This is my new one, I love that you can wear it as a backpack if necessary. Looks very sturdy so far, even though it's also fake leather. White Elm Gemini Bag

I still mourn a D&G shoulder bag that was stolen out of my vehicle in Miami in 2009. I also wish I'd seen that Cuyana link earlier because I would have loved this travel bag: cuyana.com/products/recycled-large-travel-bag-recycled-plastic-gold. I might still have to get it and use on my next trip. Just saw in-store availability in Boston. Now I'm tempted to go find it while I'm there!
