Monday to Saturday I usually don't eat breakfast and try to fast from dinner to lunch. Only black coffee. Then depending on my level of hunger I'll have a cold or a hot lunch, and dinner is usually the biggest meal I'll have. I grew up having dinner together as a family so this one is kind of set to me, I don't like not having a proper dinner. I don't feel "whole" if that makes sense?
Sunday is a different thing, normally I will have a late breakfast that will fill me up until dinner. And sometimes it's late breakfast, late lunch, and leftover dinner.
When I'm on vacation, I'll always eat breakfast. Weird, if I think about it.
I never feel like a full meal first thing in the morning, unless i'm traveling. it doesn't even have to be vacation. if i'm traveling for work, i'll go down and have eggs and bacon and fruit, etc before going to meetings, which is the last thing i would ever do during the week at home.
i also need to eat dinner. i could skip breakfast, and even lunch sometimes but if i don't have a proper meal in the evening i just keep snacking and grazing all night and never feel full lol
i've tried reversing that and doing what you're "supposed" to do which is to eat more during the day and less or nothing in the evening but like you i grew up having family dinner every night and it's usually my biggest meal of the day. i'm trying to eat earlier though, sometimes as early as 5:30-6pm which makes me feel like a canadian retiree lol
I gave up on the trying to eat dinner earlier. I don't know what to do with my life after having had dinner at 7pm - there's so much "free time" suddenly that I start doing stuff like cleaning or work on something, and then I won't get tired until very late. Which makes me hungry again. No-win-situation.
