Iowa isn't a surprise but gods I was hoping it would go differently. On the news they interviewed some locals who said Trump was the only president ever who did everything he'd promised he'd do during his campaign, enough said.

They had better hurry up and convict him so he's not eligible for office or we're screwed.

They had better hurry up and convict him so he's not eligible for office or we're screwed. Do you think that will stop him? Because I don't. He'll have his lawyers appeal anything and everything in an attempt to ties things up for years or he'll campaign from a prison cell and whip his followers up into a dangerous froth. If he can't take America for himself then he'll burn her to the ground so nobody else can have her.

Hmm, only 14% of iowa repubs turned up to vote, and almost half of them did not vote for trump! So that puts a different spin on it. As per CBS News: Iowa caucus voter turnout for 2024
The 110,000 voters who participated in the 2024 caucuses accounts for just under 15% of the state's 752,000 registered Republicans.www.cbsnews.com/news/iowa-caucus-turnout-2024/

I just have so much WTF about this. Maybe he think that it's his ticket to Boris 2.0 The world would be 'more stable' under Trump. The former prime minister mocked the "global wokerati" for "trembling so violently" at the idea of Trump returning to the White House after he won 51% of the vote at the Iowa caucus on Monday. Boris Johnson has endorsed Donald Trump for the US presidency, claiming he will surprise his critics and back Ukraine, making "the West stronger" and "the world more stable". The former prime minister mocked the "global wokerati" for "trembling so violently" at the idea of Trump returning to the White House. On Monday, the ex-president won the Iowa caucus, the first event on the path to candidates being nominated, with 51% of the vote. In his column for the Daily Mail, for which he is being reportedly paid up to £1m a year, Mr Johnson said he is convinced Trump will continue to arm Ukraine. Trump has failed to commit to sending weapons to the country and consistently expressed admiration for Vladimir Putin. In a recent interview, he expressed concerns "we are giving away so much equipment… we don't have ammunition for ourselves". But Mr Johnson wrote: "I simply cannot believe that Trump will ditch the Ukrainians; on the contrary, having worked out, as he surely has, that there is no deal to be done with Putin, I reckon there is a good chance that he will double down and finish what he started - by giving them what they need to win." He added: "If that is the case, then there is every chance, under Trump, that the West will be stronger, and the world more stable." Zelenskyy invites Trump to Ukraine In an interview with Channel 4 on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Trump to visit Kyiv, after he claimed to be able to finish the war against Russia in 24 hours. Mr Zelenskyy said: "Yes please Donald Trump - I invite you to Ukraine. "If you can stop the war during 24 hours I think it will be enough to come to Kyiv, on any day I am here." news.sky.com/story/boris-johnson-claims-the-world-would-be-more-stable-under-donald-trump-13052064

Boris would sell his every one of his children (if he could remember how many he has) to be able to have the cultish following of MAGA types behind him, excusing his every scam and cheering him on to do even more. But at the same time, I don't think that he actually wants to be Prime Minister again. It would restrict his ability to grift and I think he only pushed for it the first time because of what he knew he could make out of it once he was out of office.

Trump's campaign to be the Republican candidate has just got a little stronger - DeSantis is out.

DeSantis is an asshole, but shite, nobody is a bigger asshole than the orange stain on humanity. If he is elected again, the end of times may actually be near.

He's won New Hampshire
Shannon Felton Spence, a political strategist, was speaking earlier to the BBC's Newsday programme about how much influence the New Hampshire outcome could have on Donald Trump's race to the White House.
"He has all but secured the nomination at this point," she said. "He will be the nominee come summer time."
Felton Spence also discussed Nikki Haley's night, saying that New Hampshire was the full "ball game" for her.
"She had put so many resources there, it should have been a place she did well," she said.
"But the independent vote in New Hampshire, which is about 40% of the electorate, can decide which party they want to vote for. So if you are an undeclared voter in New Hampshire you could have showed up."
Felton Spence said Haley was expecting those independents to get her over the line of the necessary Republican votes, but "they didn't break for her in crazy margins so that hurt her",
"The second thing that really hurt her is Ron DeSantis got out of the race and made it a two-person vote and DeSantis voters made it clear that their second choice wasn't Nikki Haley," Felton Spence says.

When our government was formed, no one anticipated a Donald Trump. There really isn't any stopping him. Nobody then could have anticipated the rise of the Cult of Personality that we have now, with instant access to soundbites that can be replayed and relayed a million times over in a matter of seconds. Our way of sharing information and meeting like-minded people has changed faster than we've been able to socially adjust to, and people like Trump have capitalised on that. If it hadn't been him then it would have been someone else, but as he's the one who stepped up and grabbed the reins then he's the one we have to deal with (this time around, at least). The only chance America has of avoiding a second Trump presidency is for people to go out and vote against him, and anyone seeking authority who supports him, at every level - local, state and national. This is so much bigger than who'll be the next president.
