^^^^ i agree cannabis can do damage, which a lot of people like to ignore, but it's still less than the damage alcohol does, and yet that's still legal. and unlike alcohol, marihuana has medicinal properties too. humans will always use substances, and some people don't know how to handle them, but that's not an argument in favour of banning them and criminalising addiction and putting people in jail or giving them a criminal record for personal use. Lots of substances are medicinal in small quantities:) and I wasn't saying to (re-)criminalise it just that it isn't the panacia that is always quoted. |

she's lucky they didn't decide to Britney Griner her ass and throw her in prison over it to try to make her an "example". it is dumb that weed is illegal anywhere but you still have to obey the law when you travel. anybody regular person would've been toasted over that. Not when you see the psychological studies on what it does to brains. Plus it is just as addictive as any other substance. prohibition didn't wok for alcohol a hundred years ago and it isn't working for weed now. it being illegal only serves to keep the jails full. people should be able to have a puff without having to feel like a criminal over it. |

Just because people are stupid, it doesn't mean that everything they want to do should be legal. Personally I would rather that you credibly decriminalize abortion than criminalize drugs. And your jail's are full because you keep convincing POC (specifically black men) who are innocent. 1 in 5 is in jail due to drug offenders but over 60% (that is more than 1 in 5) are in for violent offenses. 🤷 |
