On the news this morning, they said that Naomi says the baby is hers and "not adopted". Sounds like a surrogate situation, right?

I think they said she is 51 now. Had to be frozen eggs and a surrogate. But I guess anything is possible. Adrienne Barbeau (goddess) gave birth to twins at 51. Actually delivered them. She said something about the only person in the maternity ward being old enough to join AARP.

And yes, I would worry about the volcanic temper.

She's 51, so yes if the baby is biologically hers I think she must have frozen her eggs.

Who knows, but I thought you would still have to adopt the baby if you used a surrogate? Especially as a single woman (so no bio-father husband taking custody after the surrogate relinquished parental rights)?

People have been going over pictures of Naomi on the catwalk some five or six weeks before she announced the baby's arrival and saying that there's no visible bump but that in itself doesn't mean anything as she's very tall and probably has abdominal muscles you could bounce a bowling ball off. Remember Nicole Kidman? She barely showed at all when she was having Sunday and my own tiny (5' 1") mum didn't show at all when she was having my brother.

Parental Orders

The intended parent(s) of the child can change who is regarded as the legal parents by obtaining a Parental Order. This will ensure that the parental rights are transferred from the surrogate to the intended parent(s).

Certain conditions must be met before the Parental Order is granted:

At least one of the intended parent’s gametes must have been used to create the embryo so that they are biologically related to the child. (If neither you nor your partner are related to the child adoption is the only way you can become the child’s legal parent(s). If you choose to adopt, a registered adoption agency must be involved in your surrogacy process.)The intended parent(s) must be over 18.If making a joint application the intended parents must be married, in a civil partnership or in an enduring family relationship.   The intended parent(s) can apply for a Parental Order 6 weeks after the child is born, and before the child is 6 months old.The surrogate (and her husband/wife/civil partner if relevant) must fully and freely consent and can only give consent 6 weeks after the birth.The child must be living with his or her intended parent(s) on the date of the application and the Order.One or both of the intended parents must be domiciled in the United Kingdom.No money can be exchanged, except reasonable expenses.

She obviously has issues with anger but damn - this is a model. She can smolder, she can intimidate, she can laugh and hold her sweet baby and the photos are brilliant. I don't see any one of the current crop that can come close. Kia Gerber? The Hadid sisters? Kendal Jenner?

Yes it would be and I thought that too. But I guess that was just her way of saying it's her biological child.

in the US i don't think you have to adopt if you use a surrogate. just language in the contract saying the baby is yours. however, i don't know the legal ramifications if the surrogate changes their mind.
