There's some debate on The Shade Room about Riot actually being a baby girl give name and clothing.

^ Yeah I did wonder too. I don't think Rihanna has said Riot is a boy? Maybe the media were wrong.

Just because it's a vaguely pink sweater? People need to stop with that blue/pink BS, it's just a colour, it's pretty, put your baby in it regardless of its biological sex XD

Rose hasn't always been just a girls name though and they have been creative with their naming choices all over the place. I think they did confirm the gender at one point. Everyone sees pink and hears the word rose and assumes girl per the cultural norms, but this is not a culturally normative couple.
It's also weird and a little telling how fussed people get over not being sure of the gender of someone else's baby. The dichotomy of male vs. female is strong in us.

^ Yeah I did wonder too. I don't think Rihanna has said Riot is a boy? Maybe the media were wrong. I’ve read she’s never confirmed the new baby’s gender. It’s believed the baby was a boy but the name and clothing are causing speculation now. There were more pics than posted here. The clothing is clearly “girl” with flowers and a head bow so more than just the pink raising eyebrows.

I see plenty of couple getting absolutely out of their way to make sure their baby is clearly identifiable as boy or girl, it never fails to make me laugh when people have tried real hard to pull a poor toddler's 3 strands of hair into a scrunchie to scream "LOOK IT'S A GIRL" and it really doesn't look good XD leave your baby's hair alone And don't get me started on people piercing toddlers' ears (mine were pierced when I was 3 or 4 months - MONTHS ! old. What bay need jewellery seriously?)

She told us to "put a bow in her hair!" very snappy and loud. I never did the headband bows, tape bows or whatever. She looked like Charlie Brown for ages and we didn't care if people thought she was a boy or girl. One of my friends pierces her baby's ears at 3 months because of "how cute it looks" and would pull 10 strands of hair together, stick straight on top of her daughter's head from 3 months on. I kinda love that now her child is a toddler she runs around with totally wild hair. I'm sure she won't let her mom near her hair anymore!
