i think it's been pretty well known kai is trans for a while now. or at least i remember reading about it maybe even on the old board.

All the articles I've seen online still refer to Kai as their son, but I don't think Liev or Naomi have commented on it, as they shouldn't. Obviously they accept him as he is. He's only 12 years old so I think it's too soon to know what his intentions are re gender. Look at the speculation about Shiloh, who seems to be more girly lately.

Yeah the speculation about Shiloh was too much and at such a young age too. Plus, her family never referred to her as anything but their daughter/she.
I've not seen Naomi or Liev comment about Kai's gender either.

I’ve seen their children referred to both as “boys” and as their “children” or “kids” in the media.
No judgement from me if someone else is just unsure & not sure what to say - different if someone is intentionally mis-gendering someone to be hurtful or nasty (you know who you are).
If someone wants me refer to them with their chosen pronoun & it makes them more comfortable I’m gonna do it. It’s a small gesture from me but has a massive impact on someone else.
I don’t think that the parents have referenced anything, and, at the end of the day the parents are famous, the children are just their children. As they do now go to events and feature in photos maybe they expect more questions but, I dunno, I just feel that it’s out-of-bounds.

I've not seen Naomi or Liev comment about Kai's gender either. Our daughter had a very good friend in high school who identified as male in freshman and sophomore years. But went back to female in junior year. The friend attributed this period as due to trauma from a previous relationship. These are kind of uncertain times. |

Yeah, I think that's why there's no way someone can make those kinds of decisions when they're so young. I think Kai wanted to dress like a girl from a pretty young age. And I think if someone wants to transition, getting the hormone shots at a younger age makes it easier later on. But it's really a dilemma.
