Being a member here - and at it's precursor - has not only been like having a second family, but as a guy, it has been a huge education and insight into women. You would think I would already know a lot about that since I have a wife and daughter, but this place really helps capture the full range of experiences. I have really tried to learn from that and adjust my insight and reactions. Basically, I think I've become a better family member, friend, and coworker because of you guys. Also, it was the freaking thrill of a lifetime to actually meet WCG, Mrs V and Sputnik in person. If you asked me two years ago if I ever thought that was going to happen, I would have told you to lay off the 'shrooms. Hopefully, I can keep that train rolling - I know Mrs Mo is on board. Thanks, Brookie and Novice. You should smell this house - Mrs Mo has already baked an apple pie and pumpkin pie from scratch. And just cooked Honduran stuffing. Our daughter is going to make some kind of pie from cod - I know it sounds weird, but the last one she made was great.
Also, Heavy Seas' Chocolate Volcano Dessert Stout sucks!!! (not chocolately or sweet). I love Heavy Seas, but they really effed this one up.

Mo, I have to confess when you first showed up at GR, I was skeptical whether you were real, or just trolling us as a super nice guy. Of course at some point I realized that you were, in fact, really a super nice guy. And I'm glad we have a super nice guy here. How the heck did you find GR and decide to post with a board full of estrogen?

Trixie, I found Gossiprocks by accident, I think. I had been looking for a new place to post because another board that I was on at the time was kind of invaded by a stalker-ish guy and I figured I would take a 3-month break from there while they realized what he was up to and kicked him out. Which is what happened.
Tulip - Mrs Mo bought the pie crusts pre-made, but not pre-baked.

Thanks Mo! We appreciate you. Tulip, I chickened out on making a turkey since Mr. INB usually does it and he's away, so I got a pre-cooked one from the store instead. On the bright side, I "made" everything myself and put on a whole Thanksgiving dinner with minimal help from the kids. Granted, most of it was store-bought and/or boxed/premade, but hey, I did it!

Mo - I'm so glad you met those special ladies. A long time ago I was on my first posting forum and found myself posting near the same woman a lot. We had such different lives (it was a relationship board), but we clicked and went to email, then to phone calls then visits. She one of my best friends in the world over 20 years later, she lives in MD. We arranged a get together in NYC for about six of us from the board. Four were very cool with each other, but the other two - oy veh. That's when I said the odds would be against me if I were to meet any more board people. Ya never know.

I have had my attitudes about things challenged and changed by Sputnik over the years. When Mrs Mo and I dropped Sputnik off at the station, I told her I loved her for how she expanded my views on things. You guys have definitely helped me avoid popping off rhetorically and just kind of explain where I'm coming from. Novice is another person who shaped how I described and react to things - I realize that I sometimes leave out background and nuance the first time I type things out. I told Mrs Mo the most pissed off that Sputnik ever was toward me was around 2010 when we were having some disagreement about someone wanting a free meal or something from the BareFoot Contessa, and then I made a snarky content about BareFoot Contessa in a completely unrelated thread about a good Samaritan situation. I could almost feel the heat coming out of my laptop screen, LOL. |
