Well, this Julia person sure was a barrel of fun, wasn't she? Queen Bitch indeed. Makes one wonder if she ever had anything nice to say about anybody. There's not a lot of nice things to say about people in the industry. It's a pretty scummy place. That's quite possible, but I said anybody, so in general.

^^^i just read Lori's wiki entry. Could it be that David Bowie is off the hook regarding her, or did his fans board wiki? I think that her years were off with Bowie, if I’m not mistaken. She was saying it was during a certain tour or time period and if it was really during that time, she would have been older or already living with (and under the control of) Jimmy Page. Of course, I could be totally wrong. Jimmy Page should be in jail and not on the cover of "Guitar Heroes".

I work very peripherally to the music industry and my mental health has taken a significant hit as a result. Can't blame all my issues on my job of course. But I certainly didn't despise humanity nearly as much as I did before I got into this position. They are, for the most part, absolute and utter SHIT.

Spent a decade in the music industry, and apart from the exploitation and the enormous egos, what really got to me was the ability for people to completely ignore previous bad behaviour if the person looked like they could make some money. I've seen absolute scumbags turn from pariahs into the toast of the town because they happened to discover the next big thing. So what if your client was caught harassing underage girls or stealing money? He's onto something big! All is forgiven. And the cycle never ends.

Beatty's always given me a creepy/rapey vibe. Seems the guy was/is creepier than I ever anticipated!

I worked in an area (not music) where I had my ideas about teenagers blasted to pieces and not in a good way. Some of the shit I saw/dealt with/read as a part of my day was crazy.

Also - a lot of people think the diva behavior is from the artists themselves. And sure, depending on who it is that's accurate. But the one's that give me the most shit and behave like utter twats are the music management types. Complete and utter GARBAGE. I have never seen a bigger bunch of entitled babies in my entire life and I'm 53 fucking years old. They are, hands down, the worst people I've ever encountered. Professionally or personally. Oh and since the pandemic all of them are worse. FAR, far worse than they ever used to be. At first I thought maybe it was just the fact that my tolerance for bad behavior had decreased drastically and yeah, that's true. But other people in my field have said the same so it's not just me.

Take out music and put in entertainment industry. Couldn't agree more. The ultimate prima donnas. In general, the artists themselves can be a pain, but respond pretty well to gentle manipulation. Middle and upper management? There are outliers, but they generally are somewhere between asshole to evil. As far as Beatty goes, I'm not going to lie, these accusations surprised me. Of course that doesn't mean a thing, but I always saw him as flirtatious but kind of shy. Again, doesn't mean a thing.

Survivors of abuse come forward when they are ready, that is the "time scale" It sounds like this woman has tried to come forward before but without the support of the current law. Going up against power when the social pressure was that it would be the victim/survivor's "fault" must be incredibly off-putting and demoralising dilligaf I am sorry that you have had to go through this multiple times.

Most of the artists aren't downright evil like the management is and, therefore, can be cajoled into being reasonable most times. But the managers? It almost becomes a game to them to see exactly how much they can get away with or how far they can push the lowly peon for their amusement.
