Rebel Wilson welcomes baby via surrogate

Rebel Wilson is a mom.

The “Pitch Perfect” star announced on Instagram Monday that she welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Royce Lillian, via surrogate.

“Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate 💗 I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle!” Wilson captioned a photo of her newborn lying down on a blanket.

The “Senior Year” star said she was “forever grateful” to everyone involved in her surrogacy journey and called out her “gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care.”

“Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!” Wilson, 42, concluded. “I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club. 💗💗




Wilson also shared a photo of herself holding pink balloons as she stood next to stacked blocks that read “BABY.”



It’s unclear if she will be co-parenting her newborn with partner Ramona Agruma.

The “Cats” actress previously had documented her fertility struggles and even shared that her significant weight loss was to improve her chances of conceiving a baby.

Why wouldn't she be parenting with her partner? Do they not live in the same home?

^^ Well, the wording makes it seem that it's HER baby, not OUR baby. I agree it's weird but maybe she doesn't want to make a commitment to share the baby legally.

I think the question is because Rebel Wilson announced the birth of "my baby" not "our baby". Also, her announcement makes it sound like this has been years in the making, so it seems like she had plans to become a mother regardless of her relationship status.

Yes.

It takes time to go throught the whole infertility process, then to go be able to arrange a surrogate, have those processes (legal & medical) and then the 9 months to grow a baby.

She's only been with her partner 7 months so the majority of the process had been completed.

yeah, didn't she just meet her girlfriend? it would be weird/potentially a terrible idea if they were already co-parenting.

^ Yeah I think they only announced they were in a relationship in June. Not sure how long they'd been together before that. 

Ramona posted about the baby shower on Instagram and people were congratulating her as well.

So how does one NOT co-parent with a person they are in a relationship with if they're all living under one roof?

i don't think it's about not letting the gf change diapers or spend time with the baby, and more about the gf's status and whether she's legally the baby's parent. and from the sounds of it, just rebel is, since she announced her as 'my' first child, not 'our'. and i don't think that's weird at all given that she's been with the gf less time than the surrogate was pregnant with the baby. and if i recall correctly, she was forced to go public with the relationship pretty much from the beginning because some tabloid found out about it and was going to break the news.

Well I understand that the baby is hers and of course she's the custodial parent. But they'll be raising the baby together if indeed they are together. At least until they split.

rebel wilson (she/her) would like to announce that she had a baby through surrogacy. that isn't to say that her girlfriend (she/her) of 7 months won't be part of Baby Royce's upbringing, but she will not be the baby's legal parent since rebel and the GF are not legally married.
