I dunno, there was always something a little skeevy and off about him for me. Even when he was "hot". That's just the plain truth. I never liked him. Not 21 Jump Street, not Edward Scissors Hands, not Captain Jack. You're right he was always just "off". |

I like him in "Platoon". Just like you'd expect, he was one of the soldiers in Elias' (Dafoe) pothead contingent, not Barnes' (Berenger) homicidal maniac contingent.

I think he's had a lot of interesting roles over the years, and his share of clunkers, but I agree he's talented. His personal life is where he sucks. I guess it was because of Jack Sparrow when he started with the grungy, dirty look but of course we all know his "look" was very carefully curated, from the greasy bandanna in his pocket to his oily hair to the safety pin in his ripped dirty shirt. Before that change, I did think he was a good-looking guy, not in a fangirl way lol. There was a pic at Old GR, with Amber and he still looked good, clean and thin, nicely dressed, then in subsequent photos you can see the progression of his drinking and drugging and what it was doing to his face and body. I can't find the pic I was thinking of, but here's one I assume was early on with Amber, when he still had his looks.  |
