I didn't watch the whole thing. Only got in for the balcony scene at the end. Chuck looked about 100 years old and it looked like there weren't that many people on the round square in front of the palace (with the Victoria memorial). I kind of enjoyed that it was raining, LOL.

I agree he looked 100. He's only 74 but he moves like he's 90. Yikes.

The TV guide on one of the FTA channels here called it "The Coronation of Their Majesties..." lol nothing majestic about old Ashtray Mouth. But she did look nice (for her) mainly when she kept her mouth closed.

The Coronation itself took place using the St Edward's Crown, which was made for Charles II in 1661 and weighs approximately 5lbs. It has subsequently been used to crown James II (1685), William III (1689), George V (1911), George VI (1937), Elizabeth II (1953) and now Charles III. Queen Victoria (1837) and Edward VII (1901) chose to use the Imperial State Crown for their coronations, which is the same crown that Charles III wore for exiting Westminster Abbey. George I (1698), George II (1727), George III (1760) and William IV (1830) chose to use the George I Crown.
As for the weight of the rest of the clothes, I found a BBC article that says this:

Well alright I'll give him a pass on the movement since he was carrying an extra 15 pounds on his head and shoulders, which really is completely ridiculous LOL
What has always fascinated me about this is the family history, while it's ridiculous the Robe Royal weighs 8 lbs the fact that it's 200 years old and is still being used is pretty cool. I think the oldest family momento I have in my possession is like 40 years old.

I thought he was going to keel over when they kept layering him in cloth of gold. He didn't seem well throughout, at the very beginning it looked like he was going to hurl.

Embarrassing in 2023. Promoting the idea that a family is destined “by God” to rule over anyone else and then crowning them in plundered gems and blood diamonds. Just gross honestly. Tradition or not the entire concept of a royal family in this day and age is ridiculous.
