eatsleepbear, you are smart for not putting him through it - my girl had a very small tumor by her ear. Other than some arthritis, she was pretty good for 15. I lost her two weeks after the surgery - it was just too much for her.
We don't deserve our fur-babies, but I'm so thankful they don't seem to know that.
Hugs to everybody.

Oh no I'm so sorry, poor girl. We lost a previous dog after cataract surgery in 2011 which I regret still to this day. All his medical tests came back that he was fine to have it, but they think he may have had a blood clot that caused him to pass. He stayed in the animal hospital two nights and seemed fine, but he passed the night we brought him home. So I guess I'm super wary of procedures unless they're life saving. ❤️ Didn't this thread start as being about Sylvester Stallone? We've all meandered a bit 😂🤣

ugh that stinks.
our last dog had a corneal tear at 14.5. eventually, she lost vision in that eye and it looked not cute. the vet wanted me to enucleate and i refused. she called me cruel. i said, the tear healed, she is blind and nothing will bring back her vision. WHY would i do surgery at 14.5? it made no sense. while it is a relatively easy surgery, i didn't want to put her under major anaesthesia. i am so glad i pushed back. and i told the vet i wasn't cruel, we did *2* CCL repairs on that dog. but she was younger and then and more robust.
follow your got.

^^ You made the right decision as far as I'm concerned. At that age anesthesia is far too dangerous for anything other than life saving measures.

^^^ agree. and i really resented how the vet tried to guilt me. as an aside, it wasn't my 'main' vet but one of the other vets in the practice. my main vet didn't agree with me when she first diagnosed the tear. but then she saw that the tear healed over time (just like it does with people).

In honour of this new trend, here's an old picture of the love of my life (yes that is my bed!)

I'm sorry Trixie Hol had a "cone of shame" due to a damaged ear. But we cut it & shaped it so she could drink with it on & it wasn't too bad. eatsleepbeer your pug is so cute! I agree about the whole situation of if they find something, what can you really do at his age. Better to just enjoy him & not worry about “what if”, when there’s really nothing you can do. trixie that breaks my heart for you! I’m so terribly sorry. czb glad you got another 1.5 years with your dog Hugs to all! Thanks. She was the doggy soul mate. It's been 12 years but I've been thinking about her all day today. For a time, I had a temp job, paid too good to turn it down but it was a couple hour commute both ways so I started staying there during the week and I took her with me. Honestly I loved it, just me and my dog in a motel. I'd check on her at lunch and then after work we'd go to the park, get carry out food and go to bed. It was nice having no responsibilities lol. And after her 2nd surgery, she was such a trouper. With the cone of shame and her naked tail wagging at me when I came to get her, she jumped in the back seat all by herself and was so glad to be going home. Great pic of Holly, Novice and I love your new avatar.

Holly! What a face - what a friend! Makes me so happy for you that you had your baby & breaks my heart for you because I truly know how much you miss her, Nov. Pets & cheese are much more interesting than the Stallones, aren't they? But, in the interests of the thread - anything new? (Gouda? Hmmm, maybe... I don't want to pick a favorite - I'm Dutch - cheese love is in my DNA.)

I took a card + chocolates into the vets today + was speaking to the receptionist+ I got as far as "I couldn't do this before but I wanted to say thank you...." and I know of managed to get a bit out about it being for Holly & how I was touched that her actual vet came to take her from me when I had to leave her but mainly I was a blubbering mess, shoved the card & chocolates at them & ran off.

pagesix.com/2022/09/23/sylvester-stallone-wife-jennifer-flavin-reconcile-after-split/Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer Flavin reconcile, are ‘extremely happy Back on. Sylvester Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, have decided to reconcile a month after the former model filed for divorce, his rep tells Page Six exclusively. “They decided to meet back up at home, where they talked and were able to work out their differences,” the spokesperson says. “They are both extremely happy.” Page Six can confirm that the order of abatement filed this week — which aims to put a hold on divorce proceedings — was submitted due to the fact that the couple are working things out. We’re also told the throwback photo that Stallone, 76, posted of him and Flavin, 54, holding hands Monday was “in his own way alluding to what was coming.”

From Enty's Blind items:
Apparently a big check and a girlfriend willing to get an abortion for an even bigger check, makes the marriage of the permanent A list actor all happy and loving again. Sylvester Stallone/Jennifer Flavin (Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer Flavin reconcile, are ‘extremely happy’) (BLIND ITEM REVEALED 08/25/22)

Who cares if they are extremely happy? What about DWIGHT THE ROTTWEILER??? Is Dwight okay? Is Dwight extremely happy? Obviously that's what we want to know Page Six.
