i do it all the time. i have now 4 avocados growing at home, 3 in pots and 1 is till growing in water. i live in an apartment, no garden and no balcony so they are indoor plants. two years ago i gave one to a friend that has it growing in his backyard. at this point the tree is almost taller than me, although that's not saying much lol when i transfer them to soil i water them once a day because they like it that way. a few weeks ago i learned that you can grow an oak tree from acorns in water like this: youtu.be/zV-YxwX9higand now i want one but around here i don't know where i could find me some acorns. this looks pretty good: ilexstudio.com/products/acorn-vase

GT's avocado (the one i mentioned on the previous page, she started it in a ziplock), was transplanted to a pot and we put it outside. it is thriving!!! doing really well. it is pouring outside now but when it stops, i'll take a pic. it did look limp right after the she transplanted but after a few weeks it perked up. it makes us so happy to see it every day.
it really is about the little things.

^that's awesome!
i couldn't keep a plant alive until i tried growing avocados. i think with plants is just a matter of luck. i have several plants groiwing in water right now and i love it because it is very low maintenance.

^seems hard but it is not. i was for me for a loooong time and now i managed to keep a nice variety of plants at home. i've started with the ones you can propagate in water and dismissed the rest lol

i do nothing for the yard plants. occasionally pick a lemon or cut rosemary for when i roast chicken but that's it.
the greywater system does all the work. but i think we turned it off for now since we are having so many rain storms.
