If I was still on the dating scene and any guy turned up in a vehicle with truck nuts on it there wouldn't be a second date.

I'm thinking the front door gets shut straight away. I never allowed anyone to pick me up/drop me off at home for the first couple of dates because I like my home to be my sanctuary and also so I could nope out of a date at will. Edit to add a Rant: For the past three days some fuckers alarm has been going off somewhere. Just a constant peep-peep-peep-peep noise and I can't get any decent sleep because of it. Every so often it stops for an hour or two and then starts up again. Tonight I'm going to have to try leaving a radio on to drown that shit out.

Rave - Mrs Mo is back. She had a pretty amazing time and also flew on Economy Plus (which sounds amazing). Rant - When the shuttle guy was unloading her suitcases, he took out a black one, and I was like, "Whose is this?" It turns out that even though she had ALREADY brought an extra suitcase for souvenirs, she still needed to buy an extra suitcase for the stuff she brought back. Sheesh.

^^^^^ i had to buy an extra carry-on when i was in switzerland and france for all the shit i bought. which was mostly food since the only clothes shopping i did was a pair of sandals and bras but i brought back a ton of chocolate, cheese, and various other swiss foods from cenovis (swiss marmite), herbal teas to horseradish spread and other condiments, even millet flakes. even 4 tubes of toothpaste (elmex forever). i didn't want to check a bag but i should have known better than to only take a carry on for two weeks.

^^ a carry on for two weeks? You need to share your packing skills! I'm impressed. Including two dresses and heels for the wedding! I was very proud of myself until I realised I couldn’t fit a single thing more than what I came with lol no secret, just years of travelling for work and I have a good clamshell style carryon. fold everything marie kondo style so all the clothes are basically ‘filed’ vertically in the half of the clamshell that zips up. I also was able to wash clothes so that helped. And except for the wedding outfits everything else was just a few pieces that are easy to mix and match and shoes that go with everything. And travel size everything for toiletries.

Anyway, it changed my life.

Rant: The problematic washing machine that decided to fail just as lockdown started has given a final gasp and tried to take me out with it. The damn thing decided to start spewing smoke while on the spin cycle and it's lucky that I'd been hanging about waiting for it to finish as I was able to get it turned off at the wall before it actually caught fire. I've had little to no sense of smell ever since my second bout of Covid so if I'd been somewhere else in the house I may not have noticed until it was too late. As it was I only realised when I saw a tendril of smoke drift past me (followed by a nice belch of smoke when I opened up the door to rescue the clothes).

You are so lucky you caught this.

Anyway, it changed my life. Same. I reorganised/purged my entire wardrobe years ago and I put everything back kondo-style and I agree, it changed my life. Not only can you fit way more stuff in drawers, you also also see everything that’s in there at first glance.

Wow, you highlighted something about long COVID that I never even thought about - how dangerous it can be when you can't smell something like smoke or leaking natural gas. Jesus, that is messed up. Our washing machine had a broken pump. It cost $400 for parts and service, but a new machine would have cost something like $1,500+. ^^^ I do this with my clothing drawers and with suitcases! Our son particularly is into matching his clothes, and is totally on board with it.

I should try the Kondo method. Re-doing all our closets.
