Pixie that's great! electical issues and all (and go full frenchie on them when you complain, it's their mistake and could have killed your electrician). and the money for the floor might have been more than planned but you'll never regret putting in real wood floors. they raise the value and appeal of your place and they'll last forever since they can be sanded and stained and repaired.

Handy as an emergency repair if you are in the middle of nowhere and you get a puncture. We used it when my mum's old biddie scooter got a puncture and she's still zipping around on it.

Yep if you can't repair it with gaffer tape or expanding foam (last resort) it can't be repaired

Do you guys know the brand? I tried some green stuff that didn't work at all - but I don't think it was a foam. The thing that kills me is that the tires are in AMAZING shape, treadwise. What waste...
RAVE - last night I had a really awesome time playing a video game with my kids. The game is Left4Dead, which is a first-person live-action zombie-killing game. Definitely my favorite game by far. I let the kids play it way too young. Like when they were 8 and 7. Then, they moved on to a bunch of other games over the years while I kept playing it.
For some reason, this summer, they both got back into it. One thing that is amazing about this game is that the developers will let you modify it to create your own levels, characters and weapons. Our daughter has gone wild with it - doing things like making her character Patrick from Spongebob Square Pants. And users have created incredibly detailed environments modeled on real-world places, like Barcelona, Spain.
Anyway, usually the game is just a hot mess of blasting and hacking at zombies and bosses and stuff like that. But our daughter found a custom version based on Resident Evil. So, we played that last night. And instead of the usual melee, it was like a gigantic escape room - except the escape room was a giant mansion. It took a whole series of intricate steps you had to figure out together in order to solve it, and then get out. I had the most awesome time, watching avatars of the 3 of us run around and figure this thing out.

notoriousmkg the stuff we used is called Tyreweld but I'm not sure whether they are sold in the USA under that name. Most service stations should carry some kind of similar emergency tyre repair foam though. It goes in as a while liquid and expands to fill the tyre and should be fine as a long term fix for low-speed vehicles.

Rant: we have a slow-draining pipe which husband tried to fix. He bought a big drain snake which, it turned out, did not fit in the pipe opening. So he called a plumber to install a clean out.
I suggested to ask them to fix the clog while they were here, nope, he wanted to fix it with the new snake. So they installed the clean out and left, and he gleefully pulled out the new big snake. 4 hours later, he was exhausted, sweaty, and defeated, the sink does not drain at all now, and the plumber was closed for the night. 🙄 So he decided the problem might be under the sink and took the pipes apart. Nope, did not work, but now the pipes leak and have to be fixed as well. 🤣
Rave: The plumber is back and, hopefully, will be able to fix all of it and we’ll be back in business. 😎

@mo - i don't remember the brand, but go to an auto parts store. the stuff works well. but be careful if you use it on a car tire. it can 'fix' the hole but then the hole cannot be patched by the tire people. so only use in an emergency and if you are ready to buy a new tire since it is only a temp fix.

Yeah, it's more of an "Oh shit!" product for car tyres to help you limp along to somewhere that you can get a whole new tyre fitted. We had to use it after hitting a piece of metal that fell off a lorry in front of us on the motorway, with no way to avoid it (and then found that the tyre had a fucking great hole in it and had to wait several hours for the AA to rescue us lol). For Ma Kitty's scooter and a ride-on mower it should be fine though, as you aren't using it every day and going long distances at high speeds.

Was it a cleanout for just a particular sink? Or the whole house? I have had trouble unclogging bathtubs, toilets, and sinks because of the J pipes. But the sewage cleanout drain that is in our basement has been a source of torture for me for years. I think we have spent about $2,100 over they years getting it unclogged. The last time it clogged (about 6 months ago), it was pretty bad. the bilge water was backing up into our basement sink (which is the safeguard area). Because it was a holiday weekend, I couldn't get any plumbers on the line and I was telling people in our family to not flush the toilets, etc. Because I was desperate, I took our 25-foot pipe augur and fed that cable in 6 inches at a time and spun the hell out of the augur crank each time. At about the 15-mark or so, the sink started to drain. I literally save myself about $750 that night. That's how much those guys will charge you to do that work.

@notorious Sorry about your plumbing issues. Slab foundations really suck, but your sewage drain doesn’t sound much better.
The new clean-out is for most of the house, but we have another clean-out in the attic. And it turns out the clog was between the two clean-outs. It took the plumbers several hours to unclog, they ended up sending a camera down and found a shallow “belly” in part of the pipe where the clog was. So they hauled a big ass drain drum with a cutting attachment into the attic to access that clean-out, and it worked. They said it’ll need cleaning more often because stuff collects in there and builds up over years.
Thankfully, the rest of the pipes are clear/normal, and it is a shallow/short belly in the main line. If it was a sewer line with a major belly, it would have to be rerouted or the slab foundation jackhammered to access it and fix. That would cost a small fortune, so the $430 for today doesn’t seem that bad. 🙄 All in all, after rotten siding repairs and other expensive various crap going wrong for months now, I am over home ownership.

If you can't replace it fix rn how about expanding foam? I never heard of that - how does it work? That's basically a 'Fix-A-Flat' type of thing

I never heard of that - how does it work? That's basically a 'Fix-A-Flat' type of thing I just checked. I tried "Green Slime" and it totally did not work. And because it's all over the inside of the rear tire, I probably will have to flat out replace the tire. One of my biggest concerns is not knowing how I punctured it in the first place. Hope it gets fixed Mo, plumbing issues are scary After this last effort, I feel VERY confident in fixing my own sewage pipe clogs. It is a really disgusting job, but the results has been fantastic so far. Desperation will make you learn some very useful techniques.

No you need proper tyre stuff not bicycle tyre stuff Also you need the repair + not the leak finder. Does this link work for you? www.mlperformanceusa.com/products/holts-400ml-tyreweld-ht3ya
