Listen I can totally buy Meghan Markle as an attention-needy actress concerned with crafting an image that is often contrived, disingenuous and frankly, bullshit. But being the fakest, most conniving, eye-roll inducing bullshit artist doesn't make it ok to say racist things against her. And seeing her get unfairly stomped on with clearly racist shit makes me DEFEND someone even I would hate to deal with IRL. Even if I hated her I wouldn't say racist shit about her, simply because it's fucking wrong.. It's not even tit-for-tat, she's vain, not out there kicking puppies or being racist herself.

Completely agree beeyotch. But I do have to say this at the risk of getting yelled at, but her Mandela comments about SA rejoicing in the streets really come off as Hilarious Baldwinish.

Sorry I don’t mean to be that person but saying “AUS native” might get you a dirty look around here.. there has been a move in Australia to use First Nations people as a more appropriate term. I agree with everything else you said though. I haven’t read the full interview yet but she sounds unhinged. I used to think she just embellished stories to suit her needs but now Im wondering if there is something more going on with her. I initially enjoyed her getting sloppy with the lies but she was someone who was much more careful, calculated and clever about it. Her recent sloppiness and odd behaviour is beginning to concern me as its out of character for her. after i wrote 'AUS native' i realized it was inappropriate. so should i write First Nations? or something else? please tell me what is correct (i mean this sincerely). All good.. just helping where I can. First Nations or First Nations people is fine.

Meghan’s comments about Mariah come off in a way I don’t think paints her in a good light. Again, I like her, but she doesn’t seem like the type of person to take criticism well. I would guess that some of the maltreatment that she’s referring to from people within the royal household may have been people trying to give her criticism (whether in a nice way or not), and her getting defensive and riled up. Perhaps they were overly critical of her and it’s obvious that she experienced racist treatment due to either conscious or unconscious bias . However I am also certain that her attitude (whether Americans might view it as admirable/go-getter) created issues because of a cultural clash. Now I guess it could also be a situation where Meghan has been attacked so much that she is naturally on the defensive but… I don’t know. I think the situation was multi-layered. Sorry if my comments about Britain offended anyone but my view remains negative which frankly is the fault of their own media. In visiting there I didn’t have a particularly positive experience but I brushed it off and my overall view of Britain remained neutral. After the last few years it’s turned negative. I’m sure there are awesome Brits and I’m sorry that some people have caused the view I currently have. But I guess it’s really no different with how Americans get stereotyped and insulted because of our shitty governmental policies (although a disturbingly large number of people here do support those policies). On another note, Effie and A*O BOTH made racist/bigoted comments multiple times. Hi - as a white middle class Brit I totally agree with your comments. I have a family member who is not white and his experiences have been awful. I believe that he has PTSD from them but it's not my story to tell. In other news I find the adulation of A*O on British topics hilarious when she hasn't lived in the UK for 30-40 years & only had contact with white middle class southerns.

Just when you think you're older and wiser... (eye roll) shellee - Hilarious Baldwinish - OMG, I like her but you're so right - and my brain will reference it every time she does it now. Hilarious.

You know what's funny, Heelaaaria is exactly who I thought of too. But even she wouldn't deserve the racist MM treatment (if she were non-white, which she's not, HILLARY from Boston.) Some people think that just because you hate someone, everything including racist comments are justified.

OMG, she's so adorable! I want to give her a hug and sit with my head on her knees and listen to her tell me stories about the good old days.

the queen does look adorable. it's hard to get excited about the PM change beyond being relieved bojo is gone. at least truss is more moderate than rishi sunak who's cute but was also pro brexit and even further to the right than truss who at least voted remain. when are the brits getting rid of the tories already?

The Queen with the new UK Prime Minister, Liz Truss Dare I say she looks older than her mom at age 96? I’m not sure she does but even if ehe did, her mum never lifted anything heavier than her gin glass, didn’t work a day in her life and was by all accounts a frivolous old bag, so it’s not like there was much stress or wear and tear…

Fucking tell me about it. It's like being relieved that Attilla the Hun has been replaced by Ghengis Khan (or Thatcher replaced by Hitler, you get my drift). They have had 15 years & made a right balls up of the economy Brexit etc etc and they are *still* blaming the Labour party. Cunts.
