re: the bolded part, i kind of hope that's true? he was 18 when they got together, it's legal and none of our business but at the same time, she was 42 and had a world of experience, and he had none and i always feel a little sad for people who get married so young and don't really get to experience life as independent adults, fuck ups and all. i feel like at some point you have to go through that so i hope he's doing it when he's off filming, otherwise i think a midlife crisis à la jude law is a very real possibility. re: the photos, i kind of always side-eye vow renewals. it's either couples who need a lot of outside attention and validation and have massive egos, or they're coming out of some kind of crisis (like a cheating scandal).

Whenever I see married celebs vow-renewing, OR unmarried celebs finally making it official after years of being together, it's usually a countdown to a breakup.
Not always. But I've seen it play out this way enough times that it's automatically where my head goes. I just can't help it.

^^^ Yes, it's like the beginning of the end of marriage countdown. I find this whole renewing thing kinda weird anyway. I mean, you vowed "forever" once, isn't that already binding?

Mostly it's the "why" you want to renew your wedding vows. I don't think it's something that just randomly pops up in a conversation, I assume it's mostly something you want to do after a rough patch or maybe even a break-up, to kind of seal the relationship again. Same with couples that marry very late into their relationship.

The only time I remember people renewing their vows, it was to celebrate an anniversary milestone like a 25th or 50th anniversary and even then it was rare. I don't really get the point but I'm not into advertising my relationships...

I'd only want to renew my vows for an excuse to have a big party. 🤣😂 but I'd have to pay for that party so I think we'll stick with the original. Also, my parents did vow renewal at 25 years and all your comments about cheating and rough patches has me "shook" as the kids say these days. 🤪

My parents have been married 61 years this year. They celebrate quietly with each other.

I think these two renewed their vows to thumb their noses at everyone who said it wouldn't last.

^^^Still, I doubt that they'll go on for much longer. No matter what they do, there is a 23 year age gap and well, from my own experience with aging, I wouldn't want to deal with a horny guy in his 30s, no, thanks. And he's on set with quite some pretty women his age. I doubt that they'll pull a President Macron stunt and I believe that it will be better for both of them if they don't.
