^ Made me cry too. She's definitely, officially my favorite Jeopardy champ of all time. (And I really liked James--don't judge me). I can't wait to see her in the Tournament of Champions, and as the reigning #2, I'm sure she'll be around in whatever other prime-time Jeopardy gigs they think up.
p.s. I'm still pissed she didn't beat or get closer to Ken's record. Jeopardy already aired here today but I was busy and didn't watch. No urgency now.

Iām truly sad too and will miss Amy. Some jerk posted an article in the respect jeopardy group about her losing so I already knew going into yesterdayās game and was so depressed. I donāt go into the jeopardy groups until after I watch the show for fear of spoilers but it came right up on my feed.

I liked James. He was fun to watch, and his winnings were incredible. I actually like all of the top 4, and most of the big/well-known winners (some more than others, and some I do find irritating), but it's more that I enjoyed watching them play.
Amy is one that played more like I would. She also seems nice and like someone I could be friends with.
I think one of the things that makes breaking the record so difficult is the toll it must take on the contestant. They have to keep the secret from everyone except those closest to them. They have to make all kinds of excuses for being away. They have to travel back and forth to record the show. They have to keep coming up with new things for that meet the players segment. It has to be exhausting.

See, never really cared for James. I thought he was smarmy.

I donāt go into the jeopardy groups until after I watch the show for fear of spoilers but it came right up on my feed. Yes even though it comes on at 3:30 here I try to avoid seeing spoilers and I NEVER go in an spoil it for anyone else! I liked James. He was fun to watch, and his winnings were incredible. I actually like all of the top 4, and most of the big/well-known winners (some more than others, and some I do find irritating), but it's more that I enjoyed watching them play. They have to make all kinds of excuses for being away. They have to travel back and forth to record the show. They have to keep coming up with new things for that meet the players segment. It has to be exhausting. Yeah, he seemed to be a love him or hate him guy, but I enjoyed him. And Alex really seemed to enjoy him too. Amy did a more traditional thing which most Jeopardy folks should appreciate, she didn't jump around looking for the DDs, she played most categories from the top and still kicked a lot of ass. I agree it has to be exhausting and I made a joke on fb that Amy just wanted to quit because she was running out of outfits to wear. See, never really cared for James. I thought he was smarmy. Oh hell yeah he was smarmy but he was still an awesome player and I enjoyed his run. Still holds every record for most money made per episode I believe. i don't have an opinion about james. but i really liked yalie. he and amy are my faves. And yalie is...Matt Amodio? Wasn't sure and didn't want to ask. On another note, here's my first multi-quote, hitting send to see if it works! lol

I can definitely see why people didn't like James. I just liked watching his run. His totals were out of this world. I admired his buzzer skill, his knowledge, and his gutsy bets.
For the ones that have had long streaks, I admire their streaks. There are some that I found irritating for one reason or another and some I found a bit boring. I liked Matt. He is one that I like as a great player and that seems like a nice guy. Amy is similar in that I think she's a great player, and she also stood out as someone I genuinely liked.

yes, yalie=matt.
as for amy running out of outfits, she only had about 5 and they were in constant rotation.
rhone got killed quick. his glasses were pretty annoying.

^ I haven't watched it yet. So he was a one and done? That happens so much with the ones who beat the long-time champs. The same thing happened with the woman who beat James I think. At least the guy who beat Matt was a 5 day, until Amy came along (?)

The one who beat James actually won a few games and got a wildcard to the TOC, where she ended up in the final. The one that beat Ken was a one and done.
I really need to get a life...

so is anyone still watching??
masters: i thought james was amazing. and mattea, so wise for someone so young. still love amy. and SAM!! wow. little known fact: i worked with him at a techy company many years ago. likely he wouldn't remember me now, we didn't work closely but he would stop by my cube daily to say hi and make me laugh. and then one day he told me he was leaving because he got his dream job as a professor in monterey. and he invited me to come visit him and his wife there but of course it never happened.
and tables turned. now i can't stand mayim and ken has grown on me. so wow.

lol, I didn't remember starting this thread.
Yes, I watched the Masters and really enjoyed it. These contestants have a camaraderie and I think a genuine fondness for each other that of course you'll never see in regular J. I kinda wish it hadn't been a landslide for James, I think they're all equally great players but is it his buzzer skills? I don't know. He was a gracious winner though. I had read that Mattea's dad recently passed away from an aneurysm, wasn't sure if it was during taping, but it was. They paused the show and amazingly Mattea came back to finish.
I also agree about Ken, he has really grown into the job and has a great rapport with contestants. Mayim, ugh I guess they're stuck with her due to a contract but she is so stiff and awkward I am always disappointed when I see it's her hosting and not Ken.
