crossfit.
it's the hardest workout i have ever done. i am 7 months in. i was ready to cry because up until about a month ago, my weight went up by 10 pounds. i know, everyone says it's muscle but still. i finally started losing weight. i probably don't look much different yet but i am still chipping away.

melissa wood health. mix of pilates and yoga. i follow her weekly schedule but she has hundreds of videos from 10 minutes to almost an hour and every length in between so really you have no excuse not to do at least something everyday. the videos range in intensity, difficulty and target area from full body and ones for specific body parts. it's really effective but also low impact so good if you have back or joint problems.
i also try to do one or two proper yoga classes a week but honestly i've been really bad at doing those via zoom. now that they dropped the mask requirement in DC i have zero excuse not to go.
my attention span is much shorter with virtual workouts. i need the motivation of a class setting if i'm going to do something for an hour.

I really need to figure out a good routine but I really love Get Fit With Rick on YouTube for getting my step count in, MadFit is good for HIIT but I can really only do her 10-15 min videos because I just don't have the patience for that shit. Of course Yoga With Adrienne is nice for...yoga. I miss Zumba so much, I did it all the time when I worked for The Y ten years ago - no one around here offers it. Nov - I would not be able to keep up with Phil, props to you!!!!

I am *so* unfit right now! I would love to be able to do CrossFit! i thought i was fit ... was doing intense hour long spin classes and yoga. but when i started doing xfit, wow, i could not keep up. i still have to scale stuff but i feel so much stronger. i think i need weights to build strength, yoga alone (and i was doing intense yoga classes) was not doing the job.

i run almost 9 km (5.6 miles) every day and stretch A LOT. i would love to do some (light) weight lifting because my arms feel very weak. and i'm trying to find the perfect time to do some youtube yoga classes. that's my goal for this month.

Yes, exactly what I need! I used to go to the gym at least twice a day, daily long walks with the dog and yoga every now and then. Pandemic started and I just got lazy. Started so many online classes but I just couldn't commit. So two weeks ago mask requirements dropped so I decided to get a gym membership again. Went to Bodypump last Monday. Let me tell you about this. I used the smallest weights, did almost no push-ups because I was physically unable to. Day after was bad. Second day? I needed two ibuprofen! I'm so out of shape, I can't believe it. Went again yesterday and I tore something with the second squad. Who am I?

I thought so at first, I tore my adductors before and it felt similar, I couldn't walk properly on Monday. But by yesterday evening it almost disappeared. Still hurts a bit and is sore, but I can move around normally again.

funky, just keep going. I started Beachbody app in January. I do the Muscle Burns Fat workouts. I was SOOOO out of shape, there were some I couldn't finish. Now I can complete a workout and not be totally drained. I don't do it every day, probably 2-3 times per week. And I noticed I have an easier time lifting and moving things too. Just stick with doing something.

Oh absolutely. I already paid for an annual membership so I will show up at least once a week! I know it will get easier, but I hate my current form 😉

I'm ready to start back. I actually want to try hot yoga. have you done yoga before? i did hot yoga for years, both bikram and hot power yoga. what were you thinking of doing? it's one of those thing you'll either love or hate, though depending on how hot the studio is you'll probably hate it the first few times anyway until you adjust to the heat. it can take a couple of weeks to get used to that. and after that, you need to keep doing it regularly, like at least twice a week, to keep up the habit. if you do that and find a good studio with a good teacher (one that actually pays attention that what people are doing and offers adjustments), it's worth it. when i was doing bikram at least 3-4 times a week, it was the only time in my life i could basically eat what i wanted with zero consequences. but it is a bit of a commitment. i tried going back to it but the only place close to me here in DC i didn't really love it, but i find yoga teachers here are very hands off.

Ah, I loved Hot Yoga! But I stopped, because either the teachers weren't good, or the rooms were so overbooked I had a hard time concentrating. I'm no germophobe, but please, I don't want to FEEL the sweat of the person next to me. It's just disgusting.
