Worsley is like a weak version of Prof Vickery.

She did a couple of radio series with actual court records & part of it was male on female violence, part sex workers and part trans people; it was a few years ago when the public weren't talking about it but she made a point that both trans & cross-dressing is more than 200 years old & was normalising it.

I'll have to check out Prof. Vickery! I already knew a little about gay and trans subculture hundreds of years ago from reading up on Molly Houses.

OK, I have seen Amanda Vickery before, but I can't place when or what topic she was talking about. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check out her stuff! I also like Suzannah Lipscomb a lot, but haven't seen her around in a while.

I saw her on an ad for another history series that started recently, but the first part was about Henry VIII/Anne Boleyn and I've seen so many docos about those two that I'm almost bored by them. Especially after Wolf Hall, it's all downhill from there.

eta It's called Blood, Sex & Royalty - the lurid tabloid title gets a side-eye from me too.

I think she was also in some of those new Time Team episodes they had on youtube earlier this year.

Ugh, it was HORRIBLE! The historians’ commentary was great but the slang, modern music and inaccuracies during the dramatized parts sucked.
